Dear Doctors:
As a fellow member of the Thurston County Medical Society, I would like to commend and thank you for providing the highest quality healthcare to our citizens and to give you a quick update on the status of Olympia Fertility, which has been offering Olympia and surrounding communities access to mid-level infertility care including super-ovulation, insemination, in vitro fertilization, and freezing of sperm and embryos for nearly three decades now.
Our embryologist of 26 years, Dr. Shelton Cai, has recently retired. During his tenure, our in vitro fertilization (IVF) pregnancy rates have consistently improved over the years, in-line with national and international trends, with a 10-year clinical pregnancy rate rising to nearly 40% for patients under 35 years of age, 30% for women aged 35-37 and over 20% for women aged 38 and older, rates being largely dependent on patient age.
Our pregnancy rates are sure to continue improving as we have been most fortunate to acquire a skilled embryologist, Jeff Robinette, to take over for Dr. Cai. Formerly of the GYFT Clinic in Tacoma, Jeff brings new skills to our clinic in the form of intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) for treatment of extreme male-factor infertility, embryo biopsy for pre-implantation genetic screening and oocyte vitrification for egg banking purposes. Along with Jeff’s 25+ years of embryology experience and subsequent new investments in a state-of-the-art Miri IVF incubator, a Tosoh AIA900 endocrine analyzer and ISO Class 7 clean room, we expect our pregnancy rates to be as high as anywhere in the nation.
We also make it a priority to provide the most affordable infertility care in Western Washington given that fertility services are nearly all cash-pay due to a lack of insurance coverage in Washington State.
I hope this letter has been informative and I thank you in advance for your confidence in the care of your patients should you refer them for infertility concerns.
